Keeping ones mouth shut

Sometimes, it's smart to know when to keep ones mouth shut. Not every detail of someones past need be put on public display everytime you're in a group of people with that person.

Yes, Lina, shutup. You talk all the time. You drop information, most of which is skewed by your warped sense of reality, it pisses me off.

Thanks for embarassing me once again.

Sprint Technical Support

The Revelation According to St. John: Chapter 4

5 And as the third seal was broken, a great telephone appeared in the sky and forced all to call Sprint technical support.

6 Great was the sorrow and gnashing of teeth whilst repetitive hold music stabbed the multitudes in the ear with the sting of a thousand wasps and great frustration.

7 And the people prayed to the beast for data service.

8 “Great is my power and network coverage”, boasted the beast as he forced his mark upon those willing to sacrifice their souls for email and web browsing.

9 And all the angels and arch-angels of heaven wept for a thousand years, raising a tide of sorrow for the souls lost to the beast.

Domino's, no speak the English

An actual complaint sent to Dominos:

This past Sunday evening (8-5-2007), at 7:50pm I called the store in question to place an order.

The young man who answered the phone had a great deal of difficulty with understanding plain English. I don't have an accent and generally speak very clearly.

Operator: "What would you like to order?"
Me: "One large Deluxe Feast Pizza."
Operator: "A sausage pizza?"
Me: "No, a large deluxe feast pizza, please."
Operator: "A sausage pizza?"
Me: "NO, a DE-LUXE FEAST PIZZA"
Operator: "Is that all?"
Me: "An order of chicken kickers and cinne-stix please."
Operator: "30 to 40 minutes." (click)

After about 25 minutes I went outside with my roommate.

I had both my house phone, (which gets reception outside), and my cell phone with me.

After an hour of no one showing up I called the store.

Operator: "Thank you for calling Dominos, would you like out specials?"
Me: "No, thank you. I would like to check on an order I place an hour ago."
Operator: "What is your number?"
Me: "xxx-xxx-xxxx"
Operator: "We don't have an order for that number."
Me: "It's supposed to go to 110 Thomas Place."
Operator: "Tobas Street?"
Me: "No, Thomas Place."
Operator: "Thompson (something inaudible)"
Me: "No, Thomas, as in the disciple who wouldn't believe until he touch the wounds of the risen Christ."
Operator: "We don't have an order for Thomas."
Me: "Please let me speak to the manager."
(HOLD)
Manager: "Can I help you?"
Me: "Yes, I placed and order for Thomas Place an hour ago and the young man answering the phone says I have no order."
Manager: "He's a new team member. The driver is on his way."
Me: "Thank you."

I hang up and continue to wait. The store is less than 10 minutes from my house.

20 minutes go by.

I call the store again:

Operator: "Dominos, (blah blah blah)"
Me: "I would like to speak to the manager again."
(HOLD)
Manager: "The driver said he tried to call you."
Me: "I have had the phone on me and no one has called. In fact, no one has driven down my street."
Manager: "Well, the pizza is here."
Me: "I tell you what, I will be there in 10 minutes."
Manager: "That will be easier for us, thanks."

So, I drive down to the store, go in and ask for the manager.

Manager: "The driver left 5 minutes ago with your pizza."
Me: "Why, you said it would be easier if I came down..."
Manager: "I can make you a new pizza."

At this point, I want to strangle the man, but accept the fact that if I do, I would goto prison. So I agreed on the new pizza.

They baked it and I leave for home.

When I get home I find on my door step a pizza...

WTF???

The driver finally came and made my landlord pay for the pie.

I reimbursed my landlord for the cold pizza.

In all this, I have several specific complaints:

1) If you are going to provide services to a largely English speaking population, make sure the people answering the phone are capable in that capacity.

2) Communicate. There was a complete lack of communication on the part of the operator, the delivery person and the manager. No one has a grasp on what was going on. This isn't life and death, it's pizza and making money for your company, but a lack of communication breaks down the flow of business and results in lost revenue.

Please address these issues and hopefully you will be kind enough to send me a money order or refund for the 20 bucks I had to pay my landlord for the cold pizza that made it to my residence after 2 hours.

Thanks,
Woody
